About the CognitiveEdge Assessment

The CognitiveEdge Assessment consists of five blocks. Each block measures a different aspect of how you think and respond — not whether you are right or wrong, and not who you are as a person. There are no good or bad results. The assessment simply maps your cognitive style.

Block 1 of 5 — Absorption and Drive

What you do: Read 7 short statements and indicate how much each one applies to you, on a scale from 1 to 7.

What it's about: Some people find that certain types of work pull their full attention almost automatically — time passes quickly, distractions fade, and the work itself feels like enough. Others experience their attention more evenly across different tasks. This block explores where you sit on that spectrum.

There is no right answer. Deep absorption in specific tasks and broad, even attention across many tasks are both useful in different contexts. This block simply observes your natural pattern.

Takes about 3 minutes.

Block 2 of 5 — Ambiguity Tolerance

What you do: Read 8 short statements and indicate how much you agree or disagree, on a scale from 1 to 6.

What it's about: Some situations have clear rules, clear information, and a clear path forward. Others don't — the brief is incomplete, the expectations are conflicting, the outcome is uncertain. This block explores how you tend to respond when you're operating without a complete picture.

There is no right answer. Some people find ambiguity energising. Others find clarity more useful for doing their best work. Both are legitimate ways of operating — what matters is the fit between your style and the environment you're in.

Takes about 3 minutes.

Block 3 of 5 — Decision Task

What you do: Complete two rounds of a decision-making task. Each round has 20 decisions. In each decision, you choose one of four options and take as many turns as you like to earn points — but at any point, a turn may end the round and you lose what you earned in that decision. You can lock in your points at any time.

What it's about: This block observes how you make decisions when the rules aren't fully known. You're not told which options are safer. Over time, you may notice patterns and adjust — or you may not. Both are valid. Round 1 shows you the result of each turn as you go. Round 2 does not.

There is no right answer. This task isn't about winning the most points. It observes how you calibrate risk when information is incomplete — and whether your approach changes when feedback disappears.

Takes about 8 minutes.

Block 4 of 5 — Reasoning

What you do: Answer 12 questions by selecting one of four options. Each question has a 30-second time limit. The questions involve number sequences, word patterns, and ratio problems.

What it's about: Each question has a pattern embedded in it. This block observes how quickly and accurately you can identify those patterns under mild time pressure. The questions increase slightly in complexity as you go.

There are correct answers here — but the score reflects both accuracy and speed, and the combination is what matters, not either alone. A correct answer given quickly weighs more than a correct answer given slowly, which weighs more than no answer at all.

Takes about 8 minutes.

Block 5 of 5 — Resilience and Recovery

What you do: Read 8 short statements and indicate how often each one applies to you, on a scale from 1 (never) to 5 (almost always).

What it's about: Things go wrong. Plans fall apart. Feedback is sometimes sharp. This block explores how quickly you tend to return to a functional, action-capable state after a setback — and how that experience typically feels for you.

There is no right answer. People recover at different speeds, in different ways, from different things. This block observes your natural pattern — not whether that pattern is good or bad.

Takes about 3 minutes.

The assessment takes approximately 28 minutes in total. You can only complete it once. Your results are stored securely and belong to you.
